Ann Williams' daytime career began in 1962 as Erica Brandt on Young Dr. Malone. In 1964, Williams originated the role of Maggie Fielding on The Doctors in 1964. Williams left The Doctors in 1965 to have her daughter, Amanda. Williams returns to daytime in 1966 as Eunice Wyatt on Search for Tomorrow, a role she played from 1966 to 1976. Williams went on to appear on The Edge of Night from 1978 to 1980 as Margo Huntington. Williams appeared on As the World Turns in 1982 and Loving in 1983. Williams' last role was in 1985 in a small role on Guiding Light which she appeared on while she was very ill with cancer. Williams died on December 13, 1985 at the age of 50.

Williams was married to Robert Welch (1964-1982; his death). They shared four children: Amanda Gordon (b. 08/15/1965), Elizabeth Morgan (b. 02/03/1969), Daniel Merryman (b. 03/24/1971) and Diana Rebecca (b. 09/30/1977).
