Crystal Chappell's daytime career began in 1989 when she appeared as a dayplayer on All My Children. In 1990, Chappell briefly appeared on Santa Barbara before joining Days of our Lives as Carly Manning. Chappell left DAYS in 1994 and in 1995 joined One Life to Live as Maggie Carpenter. After two years on OLTL, Chappell left in 1998 and in 1999 joined the cast of Guiding Light as Olivia Spencer. Chappell played the role of Olivia until the series cancellation in 2009. Chappell returned to DAYS in October 2009 but was written out of the show in 2011. In May 2012, Chappell joined The Bold and the Beautiful as Danielle. Chappell is the creator, producer, writer and star of the web series Venice.

Chappell has been married to Michael Sabatino since 01/06/1997. They share two children: Jacob Walker (b. 04/2000) and Dylan Michael (b. 09/02/2003).
