Macdonald Carey's daytime career started in 1965 when he became an original cast member on Days of our Lives. Carey had numerous credits to his name before joining DAYS and continued to make appearances while appearing on DAYS. Carey died on March 21, 1994 of lung cancer.

Carey was married to Elizabeth Heckacher from 1941-1971. They had six children: Lynn Catherine (b. 10/29/1946), Theresa, Steven, Edward Macdonald Jr. (b. 04/22/1954), Paul and Lisa (b. 1949).
