Anthony Geary's career in daytime began in early 1978 when he played the role of George Curtis on The Young and the Restless. In late 1978, Geary booked when was supposed to be a short term stint as Luke Spencer on General Hospital but it didn't take much for Luke to catch on with audiences especially with he was paired with Genie Francis' Laura. Luke and Laura's 1980 wedding was the most watched daytime episode in television history. Geary left GH in 1980 but made a quick appearance in 1985. In 1991, Geary returned to GH but not as Luke but as a new character named Bill Eckert. The Eckert family was introduced to take over the role that the Quartermaine family but the family never caught on. In 1989, Geary then resumed back the role of Luke when Genie Francis returned as Laura. Geary finally left GH in July 2015. Geary made a small one day appearance in May 2017 when Jane Elliot was exiting the show.
