Roger Howarth's daytime career began in 1992 when he appeared on Guiding Light and Loving in short term roles. In December 1992, Howarth was cast as Todd Manning on One Life to Live. Howarth left OLTL briefly in 1995 before returning in 1996 and staying until 1998. Howarth made a return appearance in March 2000 and in June returned full time. Howarth left OLTL in March 2003 because he didn't like the direction is character was taking and the role was eventually recast with Trevor St. John. Howarth than joined As the World Turns as Paul Ryan and played the role until the series cancellation in 2010. In May 2011, Howarth returned to OLTL and it was eventually revealed that St. John's Todd was really Victor Lord Jr. Howarth played Todd until OLTL was cancelled in January 2012. Howarth appeared on General Hospital in March 2012 as his OLTL character, Todd Manning, in a guest starring arc. Howarth returned in May 2012 as a contract series regular. Due to legal issues with Prospect Park and ABC, Howarth's Todd had to exit the GH canvas but Howarth returned to GH as Franco. Howarth also appeared on OLTL during its first season run on the web. Howarth exited GH as Franco in March 2021 but returned in May 2021 as Dr. Austin Gatlin-Holt. Howarth was written out of GH in November 2023.

Howarth has been married to Cari Stahler since 1992. They share two children: Julian and Colette (b. 04/2002).
