Helen Gallagher's daytime career began in 1979 when she joined Ryan's Hope as Maeve Ryan. Gallagher played the role though out Ryan's Hope fourteen year run. In 1989, Gallagher played Hannah Tuttle on Another World and in the early 1990's played a nurse on All My Children. Gallagher's last onscreen acting credit was in 1997 on One Life to Live as Maude Boylan. Gallagher' has an extensive theatre career that has awarded her with two Tony Awards. Gallaghers last theatre credit was 2000's 70, Girls, 70.

Gallagher was married to Frank Wise until 1958.
