John Wesley Shipp's daytime career began on February 5, 1980 when he was cast as Dr. Kelly Nelson on Guiding Light, a role he played until January 26, 1984, when he was written out and let go due to his character's marriage and departure and leaving town from the series. From 1985-1986, John Shipp appeared on As the World Turns as the late Doug Cummings until his character was killed off and having died by a gunshot wound. John Shipp made a guest appearance on Santa Barbara in 1987, One Life to Live in 1988 and All My Children in 1990. In 2010, John Shipp returned to OLTL but played a new character, Eddie Ford who was killed and made a one day appearance in 2012 when cancellation began. John Shipp has acted in numerous TV series with one of his most notable roles being the Mitch Leery on Dawson's Creek.
