Joseph Mascolo joined Daytime in 1982 in the iconic role of Stefano DiMera on Days of our Lives, a role he has played on and off over the last three decades. Mascolo has also appeared on Santa Barbara, General Hospital and The Bold and the Beautiful. Mascolo died on December 7, 2016 at age 87 from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. Mascolo's final appearance on DAYS aired in February 2017.

Mascolo was married to Patricia Schultz from 2005. until his death in 2016. Mascolo was previously married to Rose Maimone (1953-1986; her death). Mascolo shares one child with Maimone.
