Malachy McCourt appeared on daytime in several roles. McCourt's daytime career began in 1975 at Kevin MacGuinness on Ryan's Hope. McCourt left Ryan Hope in 1980 but made several appearances throughout the 1980's until the series was cancelled in 1989. McCourt also appeared on Search for Tomorrow in 1985 and One Life to Live in 1995. McCourt made several appearances on All My Children from 2004 to 2009 as Father Clarence normally appearing around Christmas time. McCourt's most recent acting appearance was in 2013's Isn't It Delicious.

McCourt was married to Louise Wachsman and they had two children: Siobhan and Malachy III. McCourt has been married to Diana Huchthausen since 1965. They have two children: Conor and Cormac.
McCourt's brother is author Frank McCourt who wrote the autobiography Angela's Ashes about their childhood upbringing.
