Philip Carey first appearance in daytime was in December 1979 when he originated the role of Asa Buchanan on One Life to Live. Carey portrayed the regularly until 2007 when the show decided to put Carey on recurring status and Carey opted to leave the role. Carey made return appearances when the show killed off the character and in pre-taped pieces. Carey died on February 6, 2009 after a battle with lung cancer.

Personal LifeEdit

Carey was married to Colleen Welch from 1976 until his death in 2009, they shared two children: Shannon (b. 1980) and Sean (b. 1983). Carey was also married to Maureen Peppler and they shared three children: Jeff, Linda and Lisa.
